That's complete BS. Hong Kong Cost of Living Index is astronomical compared to Guam. Guam is cheap compared to the big asian cities. Food is expensive, but the rest isn't. Nice try bubba.

Why do peeps gotta worry about what Guam pilots get ($3K/mo)? Bid Guam if you want the extra cash. Otherwise, just worry about your own business. How about private school tuition? Jeez.

It's not exactly an inside source and it's not exactly a secret that they want to close Guam. Hey, it's not my decision. I don't lose sleep if you don't want to believe it. I hope you're right. It makes no difference to me if you believe it or not.
In 2015 or thereabouts, Guam went from 12 737s to 11. Now, based on the below article, it looks like they're pulling another 3 frames from Guam this November. https://www.postguam.com/news/local/...c1d9ede34.html So, don't know about pressure for Guam to close, but it does seem like there is pressure to pull their aircraft. |

We probably ought to get toll reimbursement for driving to La Garbage if you are based in Sewer.

Sad day for the 787 though as buried in that announcement is that SYD goes to the 777 in NOV. |

Looking briefly at a few online sources, while restaurants in Guam are more expensive, that's not really an indicator of "cost of living" for residents. However, Bay Area housing costs appear to be far and well above anything in Guam. Saying "if you want Guam, then bid it" is akin to those that say there shouldn't be anything in the contract to better help commuters: "if you don't want to commute, then move to a domicile". Whatever... no dog in this fight. I just find it interesting that United's Guam gets paid so much to go there. If they got rid of it, people would still bid it, so it cost the pilot group as a whole "something" to have it. |

Sad that SYD leaves the 787 but AKL will move from the 777 to the 787 around the same time so that offsets that a bit. Even though AKL is seasonal so not an even trade. Is it still the plan that the 787 gets Seoul from the 400 and everything else from the 400 goes to the 777? The 787 currently does PVG along with the 400. The 777 gets the other PVG from the 400 in early October I think. My back of the napkin math estimates sfo 777 will need about another 150 FO's. Probably at least 30-40 Captains beyond the current vacancy bid. Does anyone know where the new 787's are going? SFO 787 must be getting pretty full.
777-300 services 8 cites with 18-19 airframes. |

787 ends SFO-MUC, SFO-XIY, SFO-SYD, IAH-GIG LAX ends IAD-LHR-IAD goes to DCA crew SFO ends IAD-CDG-IAD goes to DCA crew SFO gets back all SFO-HND, SFO-KIX from IAH (IAH has been flying 1/3 of each destination) Who gets DEN-NRT-DEN? LAX or SFO? most likely whoever is most overstaffed....... What all this means for 787 staffing I can't even guess. I would imagine both LAX and SFO are somewhere between properly and over staffed. Displacements? Maybe? To many moving parts here. |
