C-Series still a possibility?

As long as they only have 50 seats, or in limited cases, 76 seats, then I don't care. It doesn't seem like the most efficient way to operate that jet though.
If it's to be operated as designed, that is with about 100 seats, it contractually can't go to the regionals.
Section 6 is coming and never underestimate the stupidity of s crowd. If we relent on scope, it'll be the start of another decades long decline.

It's funny, Flight Global took one little paragraph from this week's Ops Update and spun it into a story. I read the same paragraph the other day and didn't think it said anything substantial whatsoever. That all said, I agree wholeheartedly with Winston that it is total b.s. when folks pass along our internal comms to the media. Tough to negotiate a good price if a seller thinks he has an easy sale, might as well be paying out of our own pockets. Shame.
Meanwhile, I will say one thing for our current management, I am extremely confident they will not pay the $80m sticker price for the C Series if they pursue a purchase. Kirby don't play that (see also - A350 purchase). BA brought up a complaint this Spring against Bombardier with the U.S. Dept of Commerce alleging that Delta is paying less than $20 mil a copy for theirs. Whatever Delta paid, I doubt we'd pay much more than DAL if we decided to buy them.
And now, I am eagerly counting down to David Puddy's latest CS-100/300 sales pitch! 3...2...1...

1. Provides the best route flexibility of any aircraft in its class
2. Provides the best passenger ergonomics of any aircraft in its class
3. Is a clean-sheet design that provides unmatched efficiency in its class with the GTFs and improved aerodynamics - the E2 is an E190 with new engines, a few extra rows and a revamped wing - wow!!!!
I doubt anyone pays list price anymore - especially for a volume order. If UAL were to order the CSeries, Delta and Air Canada will be flying CSeries versions and any potential operational kinks would be worked out by then.
Let's hope UAL orders the E2 (to also appease Boeing who is very nervous about a potential bigger CS500 version from Bombardier) and you guys can enjoy flying regional routes in that tight cockpit with those annoying ram horns for the next 2-3 decades. Have fun!

If we bought the cs 100/300 at a 1:1 ratio the blended rate would be about the same as Delta's 717 rate. The Captain CS100/300 blended rate is also about the same as our wide body FO rate. I agree though, let's get the rate up for these in the next contract. At least the CS300 pays what a 319 does. Makes sense because they are about the same size.

Unless they can "Pull a Tesla", and get the Canadian government to subsidize their money losing product, they are going to lose, and lose badly.
It's a welfare program at this point.

This where Boeing is dropping the ball. They need a 737 replacement. Instead of developing one just buy it! Just buy Bombardier and take the Cs100/300 and make a 500,700,900, 900ER (it's going to need a tail wheel!)...,,and then make a Max10,11,12 and so on.
