Big thumbs up to the union addressing some reserve concerns. Paragraph H Will fix 75% of my issues with reserve.

I don't know where this new "reality" came from, but I am going to enjoy it while it lasts. Way to Go ALPA!

OK, I read the email. Sounds like there was a "give" by us on FRMS flights, that was a conflict between our last contract, and FAR 117. I didn't read the fine print, so I won't go into it. So a small number of our pilot group is now catastrophically torqued off. But the rest of the reserve pilot group is happy. I will take it.

But I will say this. Joe, I agree with you. Completely. And this might bode well for a solution to more of our reserve "wants". What will we "give" to get what we "want". I predict that we find a solution to the conflict between the contract and 117 on the 10 am first day availability. We never negotiated for that, as it was very expensive manpower-wise.

I hated working for the combo of UAL and ALPA since I was hired. An arrogant company that hates its' employees, combined with an arrogant, and antagonistic union telling us to punish our passengers to get the company to comply with our demands, is the dumbest thing I have ever been involved with. I left this place every chance I got.

I don't know T. Insler, but I love that the union response to the company playing ball with us is no longer more antagonism, but engagement.

Joe I don't know how long it will last either. But I like it. FINALLY.

I still like one of AMR's old reserve rules. Every pilot was on reserve at least 1 month a year. Everybody cared about reserve rules then. And the bottom guys were not on reserve every month, or even the majority of months.

F that. Tons of pilots skip upgrades because of various reasons, mostly quality of life, myself included. Now you're telling me they're going to have to sit reserve anyway out of seniority? NFW.

If you feel so strongly about that bid reserve and donate your line award to someone junior.

I understand Pan Am also used to do this. Your recurrent month was spent on reserve. Junior guys were not stuck on reserve for years. Everybody took their turn in the barrel. Which was good for building and reinforcing group identity among the membership. Shared experiences, and that stuff.
