While he’s wrong, he isn’t totally off base. I don’t feel like anybody can see a foot in front of them in our manpower planning. One week we’re hiring 1000 next year. Oh, well maybe half that the next week, and then even fewer a week later. Let’s offer COLAs and then not give them to many of the pilots (seats/equip/base) we offered them to because our staffing needs changed yet again from the time we opened the COLA request window to its closing. Let’s make calls for a class and then cancel it the next day. It’s awfully unprofessional-looking to keep announcing things and then reneging within a matter of days, or even hours.

[QUOTE=MasterOfPuppets;2480540]Maybe you should edit your post and change your wording then.....All you have to do is log onto flying together and you would see when the next new hire classes are.
They are way behind in the training department, the 737 and 787 are hurting the most because the IAH based pilots are quitting faster then they can be replaced. The positive space tickets to DEN are coming to an end and soon the free hotel will be coming to an end. LOA 40 only requires 45 days notice to go back to the line but it takes 4-6 months to get a new PI spun up. """"""""""" ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^ This: above Now you should get your facts correct. No one at present has quit. (A couple maybe but completely false)They still get all the benefits to commute until summer 2018. Positive space plus hotel. Read the side letter for how long this is in place. August 2018 give or take a month Reasons for 737 CQ CANCELLATIONS. 1. Previous grievance about fly days. Council 93 put this out concerning cancellations. PI's out flying. Some similar activity on 787 from training loads earlier in the year. This affected December drastically. 2. FOX PROGRAM: (the major headache for all this)if you don't know what this is, then your really not familiar with what's behind the problems at TK. |

Thanks for the info on the numbers I'm reading . New to the min max numbers so didn't quite know what I was reading . Although I did just get back from my 320 MV and notice our sim was avail hours earlier both days and no one going after us for several hours etc. doesn't sound like the sims are being used efficiently at all. But like others have said could be lack of instructors . Again this was just an observation on the Airbus .

I can't argue with any of this it does seem like crew planning is a **** show, and that in turn affects everyone from #1 to #12,500. I mean why in the world would you put out a "Summer 2018 WB fleet plan" that includes XIY and then a week later announce they are canceling XIY? Did crew planning not know? If they did know why not just wait a week to put out the plan? Its a mess for sure if you just look at the WB fleet plan for 2018 we are WAY under utilizing the 777-300 and we have more 787 destinations than the 787 fleet can fly. All this shows me is that there is going to be alot more changes before summer.
Trying to figure out the how’s and why’s is just an exercise in making yourself crazy. |
One more rumor to throw on the pile, again, only a rumor but it sounds about right for IT company with wings.
I heard last week that one of the issues affecting training throughput at TK is the implementation of a new training scheduling software. The rumor is that after a lengthy beta test, it was switched on and promptly started double-booking sims, classrooms, instructors, etc. |
