What they need vs. what they do are differnet. Thus far this year, it’s been about 60 a month for Jan and Feb, but I believe it’s only one class for March. IF they do the usual summer halt (highly likely), it’s onky 60/mo for the months they run classes.

Have spoken with some of your crews who thought they would keep some training going, due to the numbers required to hire/train.

Thoughts?
Historically, that is true.

However, 2017 was SUPPOSED to see a resume of hiring in the fall. They didn’t run a new hire class till December.

From an LSC update sent this week....

Manpower Planning: There are no known vacancies or displacements for the foreseeable future. We don’t expect to see a future flying plan from marketing until May, therefore the pilot requirements going forward are not known at this time. There is one class of furlough returnees on 3/05, but no other new-hire classes planned. All remaining transition training, including from the 747, should be complete by April.

You talking merger? Other than the 50ish Airbus the other half of their fleet is aged MDs... I guess buying them would solve the manpower issue for awhile if they park all the old metal. Possible but my guess highly unlikely.

I'm putting my money on a slow down due to the uncertainty of our fleet... mgmt wants more RJs... pilots don't. If mgmt gets what they want (we sell out) then hiring (mainline growth) will slow drastically... if pilots win then hiring flood gates will open.

Allegiant will be all Airbus by end of 2018. In the current environment I find it odd that both of our companies stopped hiring. Whether that spells merger or not is anyone’s guess, but yes I agree the quick transition course of 900 pilots and no anti-trust barriers to merger (and Andrew Levy came from Allegiant) adds up to some possibilities.

Apologies for derailing the thread.
