Exactly....I bet there are 10 pilots with less than 100 sick bank hours for every pilot with over 500...

Needs to be fixed. We spend all our negotiating equity making sure we even up with Delta but somehow ignore this gaping difference.

I'll take the other side of that bet.

Just had a PC with a captain who had >1000 hours of sick time with <2 years to go. Come on man!

Not sure we could ever know. I wonder if ALPA has access to that type of info...? Assuming that they are even considering this issue.

I personally like the way that Delta has their SL. With no STD program and how little we accrue SL, DAL’s method is better. The thing that we have to think about is how do we make the pilots whole who have a large sick leave bank? It is an earned benefit.

DAL does have a problem with their SL policy though. In the month of May, there is a disproportionate amount of sick calls because in June their sick banks reset. I know our management would be cognizant of that.

Simply means that you can call in sick for an immediate family member and use your sick bank without fear of reprisal from the company. How much sick bank you can use is a variable that varies from company to company but it in essence, it negates any company sick leave policies that punish you for usage. Don't believe a Doctors note is required either.

Thanks. I sure hope they change the way we accrue time then. 60 hours a year no matter how it’s used is on the light side. The opening statements are just that though. Who knows what the end result will be. I’ll just wait for a TA and then vote based on what I read. We turned in surveys and talked to reps. They know where we stand, so now we wait.

Simple solution, have everyone’s SL reset on their birth month. BAM it’s now spread out. But our IT department would screw that up too.
