Seems like a good product when compared to the Guppy Maxs. Will most likely come down to cost, and whether the A350s can be swapped out...

Cheers,
Biff

The hangup with the A350 order/cancelling it is Rolls Royce with the engines. Airbus supposedly has no issues with any swapout.

Yup, and unless we can find a suitable compromise with Rolls, we are bound to those orders. Unless the Company wants to forfeit hundreds of millions of dollars. That’s my understanding anyway.

I’m wondering if they are considering a 321 buy separate from the 350 issue.

A small buy, to cover 757 trans-Atlantic routes.

Not taking delivery of anything with British motors is one of the better ideas we've had.

I still remember my old man cursing out his Jag years ago.

Some things never change

Damn good thing we didn't get the 787s with the RRs. We'd have been in some deep doo doo.

Most exciting article of the year for me. My dream has always been 757 captain in EWR, but the aging fleet, old tech, and accompanying stagnation in seat has kept me away. If we got the A321 in EWR that would be awesome!

Got my fingers crossed

Wonder if this is in lieu of the MAX-10. Maybe somebody finally figured out it wasn't such a good idea to saddle our company with 40 year old tech for another 25 years.

What are the negatives associated with the Rolls engines?

I flew the 3 spool 757 and loved it. Starts in a flash, and seemed to have more guts left at cruise than the Pratts.

The CAL 757's all had Rolls-Royce RB211 engines and they were much better than the Pratt & Whitney PW2000 ones. Dependability, noise reduction and performance were off the charts. Not sure why the new Trents are so bad?

Q: Why do the British drink warm beer?

A: Because Lucas Industries makes their refrigerators
