Yep, that’s my take as well. Paid move, system wide bidding, CBA required reserve buffer, etc.

Yeah.

The difference is GUM is thousands of miles from the nearest 737 domicile, thus there's no practical alternative.

CLE? Not so much.

(FWIW, I'd love to see a bunch of smaller bases as I live in one that would be on the short list. Doesn't change the math unfortunately.)

Of course it is. My point was that GUM can handle the domicile with the appropriate level of reserves. As can CLE.

Satellite bases will also be able to handle appropriate levels of reserve coverage (IMHO)

CLE & GUM are contractually compliant Bases and Categories, the only difference is CLE is managed from ORD by the company.

The same can be done anywhere else anytime! (MCO, TPA, LAS, SEA, BOS). Staffing and fleet mix would be discussed with the company and ALPA first!

All I am saying is that our union and the company met and made an agreement. Someone else said “the company” did something, they didn’t do it unilaterally.

If you want a good test case for satellite bases, look no farther than our regional partners. They love small outstation bases in places like Indianapolis, Dayton, Columbus, Norfolk.

Many of us had to suffer under the outstation basing model. Productivity and seniority get diluted. Deadheads skyrocket. I'll take hub basing.

The Dr Dao incident started when Republic added 4 deadheads going to an outstation at the last minute.

If the company wants a base they can make a regular base, it’s really that simple- just like a SNB. I think our contract is working just fine.
