Ironic how a thread about an overwhelmingly disliked uniform has drifted into the crapper.

I’ve kind of come to terms with the uniform. I personally think that it’s hideous, but they do pay me well. If they want me to look like the Maytag repairman with a purple tie, then I guess that we just deal with it. I just don’t care anymore. I’d rather get a new and improved contract, increase my income, and spend as few days on property as possible until I can retire. I’m counting the days.

Agree, compensate me in an industry leading manner and I’ll show up in a clown suit. New uniform blows but who cares?

Does it have to be one or the other?

How about a great contract AND a uniform I’m not ashamed to wear?

Union says to send in PDRs. I am.

Knock yourself out my friend. I’m guessing most of the final decisions will be made in a vacuum with little input from our Union but what do I know?

Again, could care less and will wear most of what they give me.

I don’t think for a minute that they’re going to listen to anything we have to say. I’m sure that the uniform will look just like the original photos. They will use a fabric that doesn’t wrinkle as bad and that doesn’t have a purple tint in certain light, but the purple tie is here to stay. I’d even be surprised if they drop that strange 3rd pocket. In the end, I really don’t care about silver or gold, thick or thin, etc. The leather jacket is something that never interested me, so I didn’t purchase one, but I hope they do allow it to stay for those who want it. My plan is to wear what they issue, buy a blue ALPA tie, and leave the purple one in the closet. As long as it doesn’t entail skinny jeans or glow purple I won’t be embarrassed or care.

When the new uniforms come out will the company be paying for all of the pieces? Even without new shirts (which will hopefully stay white) a full wardrobe will be $400-500.

Full-on purple, hints of purple, whatever. As long as its more comfortable, fits better than a burlap sack, and doesn't give me a rash.

No you have to pay for the new uniform. You better start saving up, you also have to pay your share in repainting the fleet. If you want, you can just send me a check for $5000 and I'll make sure it all gets to the right place. You'll know it did if you don't get a bill for the uniform.

Perhaps a quick read of that section of the contract would be in order.

Delta pilots pay for their own uniforms......that's why they've been the same since it's inception in 1775 with the inception of the US Navy!
