10-2 and U. What the contract says.

I apologize to my L-CAL fellow pilots. I should not have grouped all L-CAL pilots into a category. That was counter productive to my discussion and wrong.
My point, however, remains. The company is pushing pilots, and violating the contract, and the union is now paying attention so if this happens to you then please don't feel you have to sit back and take it, and on a larger note we need to become more unified as a group. Again I apologize for not discussing the issue in a way that created unity.

Thank you for having the integrity to post that.

The training committee guy I talked to said it’s a dead issue. That we have it better than Delta who trains all night and this wasn’t going anywhere.
So please do PDR it and let us now what they tell you.

Look. This has been said several times. The contract in section 9 outlines sims in the 2400-0200 time area(sim starting at 2200). It’s legal and the building is running at full capacity. The random exception are these blocked periods called “slide periods.” There is no one in the building authorized from the lower ranks to change or use these periods without authorization from very high up.
As an example, a 10 am blocked sim was vacant. Several instructors wanted to jump in at 10:30 to use the sim for 15 minutes to update landing currency. A senior training manager was told no.
The association is in the process of trying to remedy these blocked periods. Let’s be clear there are probably not many of these but the fact that one period in the light of day is blocked in the pre-build is unacceptable. In the mean time let the union work through the process of resolving this.
At the end of day the building is running at capacity. The 2200-0200 will be the norm for the next several months. And we are training off site in fairly large amounts.

Id be interested to see what ALPA has to say to you about this. As I mentioned above I have PDR’d this very exact issue. I had a couple of months where I was assigned 20:00 to 02:00 sims for nearly The Whole month as an instructor.

No training committee member on our National committee has said this is a dead issue. The committee is meeting regularly with the FTC management and has expressed the unions displeasure with this new policy of”slide periods”. What is dead is the fact that we can’t change this in the short term while the grievance process plays out.
DAL does not train 0200-0600. they use to have an E period where you went into the box at 2330-0330. Only authorized for west coast domiciled pilots and new hires. That time might be a little earlier now that the 20 min of dead time between sim periods is gone.
Just the facts
