Including the MAX 9

Is it too late to buy the A-321?

I wonder if it will last as long as the 787 grounding?

It’s all rhetoric until it affects you I suppose.

This should raise alarm to anyone, regardless of political leanings, when incomplete politics and popular opinions are allowed to trump (ha, see what I did there) decades of safety practice forged by labor, airlines, and regulators.

This part of Boeing’s press release reeks of caving to media panic, not evidence taken from the investigation of either accident.

"However, after consultation with the U.S. Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), the U.S. National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB), and aviation authorities and its customers around the world, Boeing has determined — out of an abundance of caution and in order to reassure the flying public of the aircraft's safety — to recommend to the FAA the temporary suspension of operations of the entire global fleet of 371 737 MAX aircraft."

For ** sake he did what 40 other countries did. I don’t agree with the decision but maybe some of you morons can dispense with the political nonsense.

Exactly. It doesn’t matter which way you lean politically. We should listen to the experts in any situation. This president ignores the Intellegence Community, Scientists, and now the experts at the FAA, among many others. This is a serious problem, no matter what your political leanings, and no matter what you think about the 737 being grounded.

Politicians on both sides are calling for grounding the fleet while not even knowing what a Max looks like. Knee jerk stupidity isn’t limited to a single party, but it sure seems to thrive in politics and the media. American, Southwest, and United have logged thousands of Max hours with no problems. The two crashes were by a carrier who was banned from even operating in the EU for years and another with a low time captain and a 200 hour f/o. I’m sure the 321neo is a nicer machine, but there’s nothing dangerous about the max.

Thank you. I agree. And apparently some new satellite data was the cause of the US decision to ground the aircraft.

I love flying the Max 9, and I think we have about 14 of them so far. Man that’s gonna hurt for a bit, well at least we’ll be properly staff for the summer.

Any guess on what this will cost a typical pilot on the 737 in terms of loss of pay? (Not to mention profit sharing)
FAA has been awful on this - first they certify a jet with no change in Flight Manual or operating procedures and no training required. Then when it comes out that those lack of procedures and training likely contributed to the crash of a pax airliner, they do virtually nothing. There should be a huge investigation into the inspectors that certified those software enhancements at both FAA and Boeing and anything those individuals have touched in the past should be looked at with a fine comb. It really is outrageous. What else are they not telling you? Trump is in general a moron but his action was right in this case.

Are you kidding me? You have no idea what you are talking about - Ethiopian had a very safe record. This is not just a training issue - it is in fact a regulatory issue and FAA and Boeing are complicit. The very idea that an aircraft can have a flight control enhancement that is not in the FM or procedures or ever even mentioned to the operators is deemed as okay? Are you sure you're a pilot?
