I'm not sure what's more pathetic here. The total lack of reading comprehension or the willful, arrogant absence of empathy.

It was a legit question, asked courteously.

Some of you give humans a bad name.

Hahahaha, glad I’m not the only one! I hate going to crew rooms even on longer sits...something off putting about some political tv droning in the background while larger gentleman with an unkempt mustache snores on a chair. The snoring does indicate life, though, so it’s all good.

I guess the habit of folks not taking out their trash in IAH doesn’t only apply to the flight deck

Don't forget the seven "energy bar" wrappers next to his crushed shoes from Payless.

You wanna talk about the “me” generation?! The old guys who got theirs and left us with this **** sandwich scope. That’s some serious “me” right there. The OP was prolly a senior guy. GMAFB

You guys that say never non rev with kids on vacation are crazy. My wife and three kids have non reved all over the world, never been an issue. Worst thing that has ever happened to us is we were delayed a day or flew to a city two and half hours away drove home. Been doing this for over 25 yrs 14 with kids. And would never think of using crew rest area for my kids and wife to sleep overnight.

Good for you guys! Honestly I mean that. But not everyone has been so lucky with their standby adventures over the years. Glad you guys make it work NRSA all over the world during peak travel seasons. However you come off sounding like a snake oil salesmen to an extent which could easily persuade new/inexperienced staff travelers into rushing the family out to HNL on a wide open flight only to find themselves number 100 through 105 on the standby list on a flight with 15 open seats coming home.

I’ve been doing United standby game for 30 years now, so I know all to well how good and how bad it can be. All I can say to those new to the game or haven’t done much NRSA with the family is to use your head and don’t put the family through hell to save a grand or so of greenbacks.

A few years ago (2015iirc)the wife and I made a weekend trip to NYC. We flew into Newark on the first flight in. Wife wasn’t handling the early morning travel well. I took her down to the crew room to relax and collect herself before we hopped on the train downtown. Some Flight manager was all over my ass about it. I tried to explain we weren’t flying anywhere else but he continued to harass us. We weren’t spending the night and we weren’t non-Revving out. We just needed a second of peace. I guess I should’ve known Newark is the last place to go for some peace and quiet. Lesson learned.
