For the curious, can you share the mechanics? How does the happen? Sounds epic.

FBOs get original trip pay. A straight pickup is on top of that. If that pickup is at 50% add pay then you get “250%”. It’s similar how people were getting $50k or more in one month paycheck. “Will you fly this trip today if I buy your trip tomorrow” etc throughout the month.

(At least the contract provides candy bars in Ops. Glad we spent time negotiating that item).

Completely agree! This lowest bidder auction BS is ridiculous. The junior guys grab the 50-75% stuff because they know the senior guys will grab the 100%. So, I don't blame them. It "seems" that some schedulers love to play games with this system as well. But that's just my opinion. It's simple. Everything at 100%, Period!

BTW, if you are "delayed" as opposed to "reassigned" into your day off,
then you get a real taste of how your seniority held day off is valued! Just sayin'.

If you are a player, or even a wannabe player, our system is vastly superior to Delta’s. Not even close.

I guess I'm not a "player" since I have no idea what that means.

Irrespective of that, I prefer 100% only for premium.

Then only pick up 100%. If you pay attention you’d know that not all trips that get tagged 50/75 make it to 100 if they aren’t picked up. Often they are broken up and sent to different bases with DH’s and then are grabbed by commuters. Or they are straight up
H6’d for another base’s reserves to be assigned.

I picked up an IAH 3-day at 100% that had been in open time for a week...out of domicile

The "players" are the ones that have standing senior manning/VDO and pickup requests for every day of the month and don't care about their schedule, they just want the $$$. The more chaos the better ($$$). They live and die by their phone.

For the regular line guys that only occasionally try to pick up something when it works for them, the DAL system is far superior, IMHO.

At delta on reserve our pickup is pretty good. If you fly on your days off you get those days off back on your next on days but also get straight pay for the picked up flying. I’d fly on all my on days anyways so I try to work on my off days for extra pay since it’s the same amount of work. This requires a lot of life flexibility though. Theoretic example, lets say the reserve guarantee is 78, and you have the first 15 days of the month off, if you flew all 15 days (impossible cause of regs I know) you’d get that pay you flew, plus the 78 reserve guarantee on top of it for like 160 hours, to only fly as much as you would anyways if you flew on your on call days. You essentially swap your on days to your off days.

For lineholders it’s double pay so you can make a lot but you’re hustling.

At united, if on reserve and you fly on your days off, you get 50% extra pay for that flying and also get those days off reinstated wherever you want them in the month.
