Then you have the liars that can no way/no how make it to the airport by their claimed report time. They rely on the jet hopefully getting in late, or they call ahead to the other dude and make up a story about being stuck in unforseen traffic, etc. to cover themselves. They know there is zero accountability on report time from the crew desk once a trip is assigned.

Yes, I’m going to be torqued if I live 30 min from report (1:00 easily in the pickup criteria) and a senior guy who lives an honest 2:00 from report way up a winding mountain road (and that’s with zero traffic once on the interstate) says he can make it in an hour. It has happened.......

Which is a perfect segway into another issue. Why, when we demand total transparency from the company, do we allow our own to hide schedules from each other? Oh, that’s right, all those stalking flight attendants.

El Guapo, you are missing the point! UAL only gets 50% add pay but no credit for the time flown until breaking MPG of 73. Delta might not get the add pay, but they are getting money for every single minute they fly since it's all added to their MPG of 78 hours.

So if DAL picks up 20 hour trip, they now get all 20 hrs +78 = 98. UAL only gets 50% add pay, so in essence 10 hours added 73 + 10 = 83. You essentially have to work 14 or 15 days before you can break MPG at UAL and really make money. DAL has a way better deal for their reserves.

Actually, you could fly one trip, get 10hrs add pay, and never fly again that month and break MPG. How are you figuring 14 or 15 days? Add pay is add pay, it goes on top.

At pre-merger UAL all the schedules were viewable in Unimatic and it took the flight office to block a schedule. And even that required some sort of legitimate reason with documentation.

It was much more difficult for the crew desk and their favorite pilots to "play games."

Now? Not so much.

The blocked schedule thing is messed up.

It's also interesting when a person has a drop in all week, then 3-4 hours before show they are miraculously ill...…
I mean if you know you're going to self help the trip you can't drop, at least do it 15+ hours out
so the rest of us have a shot at it and you don't screw a short call...….

All good points but do keep in mind many pilots have drop/trade requests set on all of their trips for the whole month. I’ve never had to call off that close to report time, but when I do call off sick the last thing I’m worried about is what my crew companion drop request history looked like.

Absolutely, if sick call in sick. Like the blocked list, there are a few that have a trend of this.
It's just a reminder that it helps us all if people can give as much notice as possible.
At 15hr prior to departure, CM can immediately drop it to a reserve otherwise it has to sit.

It generates more revenue for your fellow pilots if you wait.
