Unless there’s an issue that requires my input and presence, I do the walk around on the FOs leg. They load the box, etc.
My leg, I load the box. They do walk around.
Old UA shuttle thing.
And my vest came from Walmart for 3.95. Rolls up into a small ball rather than the football the company gave us.

From: 18%er but I’ll enforce UPA23 to the last period.
I just print the Flt brief (new release thingy that came out a month or so ago). It has the Minto gas already on it. I just fold it so that is visible and write the planned gate gas on it since the FO is going to ask me about that later
. I also write SOBs on it and basically use the margin of that for any other notes I need (arrival gate, etc).

Has anyone sent a thank you note to the Union Safety dork in SFO who dreamed this crap up?

I like how during a walk around it's A-OK to step over the fuel hose, deadman wire, grounding wire, air hoses etc but it's VERBOTEN to step over the bright yellow tow bar that's affixed on one end to a brake-set, chocked aircraft on one end and a brake-set, in park, engine off tug on the other. Safety first!

Do me a favor: while I'm out there, instead of calculating what your $280-$350/hr will get you in the de-ice pad, could you maybe step back and say a few words to the passengers while we are sitting at the gate? It goes a long way... especially with the 1st class pax.
Thanks.
