I recall reading on here (I think it was from Andy or John Carr) that only about 3% of the pilots retired at age 60 once it was raised to 65.
If it got extended to 67, what percentage would still hang it up at 65? |

They need to look in the mirror is my point.
Some guy, who is old and wants to continue the great ride a couple more years and cares more about himself and his family than his first officers, or some not yet hired pilot, is gonna “look in the mirror”, and say...”hey I look a,little hypocritical”, so I’ll just change. Even though he knows he’s been a hypocrite for a long time. In fact the last time the age rule change was debated, and he opposed it because he was an fo or junior NB Captain at the time. And he knows the junior pilots will take the the same position as him when they get close to mandatory retirement age? That about it? Tilt at windmills much? |

Whatever helps you sleep at night....good luck with your 67 campaign.
Well wait a minute. Maybe not. Maybe I’ll stay a bit longer just to hear some whiners like you, continue their bellyaching. You seem to enjoy it so much. |

Oh I’m not part of any campaign. Well maybe a small one against hubris and stupidity. I’m outta here either way.

The fractionals have always been without a mandatory retirement age. It's worth getting data from them before going down this road and I hope future policy makers are open minded enough to do just that.
NetJets has a union committee devoted to cockpit issues that stem from those "unfit for duty". I also believe the average age most pilots "medical out" is around 65, although some I think approach 80 years old. Removing a mandated retirement age is dangerous territory, however greed and arrogance have never been concerned with safety. |

One of many cases to point is an airline whose wages and work rules puts them in a spot where they have to hire low experienced pilots with sketchy employment and training history that would push the nose of a heavy jet into a 49 degrees nose down attitude during approach because of a faulty airspeed indication. We often pay for what we get. |
