So you’re saying we have no say as ALPA dues paying members, nor should we pulse the pilot populace of dues paying members industry wide?

FYI, someone wants this because political folks are stirring up legislation.

I generally don’t care either way but I do care that we are the ones who either want it or don’t. We are the union, we the pilots, not the company, not the government.

Age 67 will not pass this Democratic Congress. Sen Graham and his Republican clan will have to wait until next year. Relax and enjoy the attrition.

Different time. Different circumstances. ICAO age change in 2006 and pension terminations for tens of thousands of US pilots made that inevitable. ALPA changed it's position on age 65 before it passed. Not this time. ALPA just reiterated it's opposition to an increase in the retirement age at it's board meeting this month. Schedule with safety. ;) It won't pass this year. Take it to the bank.

Interesting commentary. So no one cares what the consensus is amongst the pilot groups at large? We are just going to go with…..whatever.

I didn’t get a say on the inputs regarding the forthcoming TA. It was polled for desires, priorities, work rules Et al. allegedly just prior to my arrival. Matters not so it seems.

I’m surprised. Regardless of whether you want it or not I cannot believe we wouldn’t take a poll on this.

Based on this, if the TA is voted down, do we then solicit pilot feedback for the next attempt or do we just bank on MEC leadership doing what they “think” The pilot group wants?

In my experience, the above is how UAL ALPA works. The idea that the line pilot has any influence over policy is one of the most tired and dishonest lines from Herndon & Rosemont.

What do you think the poll would look like? I'm gonna say it would be more lopsided than SWAPA's, since our demographics run younger. They just voted 2 to 1 to keep age 65. You'd be lucky to get 30% voting for age 65 change within ALPA, IMO. As for the TA, yes... if it's voted down, the MEC will likely solicit feedback from the membership.

Well good on soliciting feedback on TA. I hope that would happen if it turns out to be a No.

Let’s simply vote. That’s my point. I wont speculate what the outcome would be by pulsing the pilots. I respect your opinion but it’s just that.

From what I’ve seen/heard, allegedly all pilots were against 65 and would retire at 60, but most of them stayed on to 65.

I’m mid 40’s. I’m just curious what the results would be at UAL. I’ve not done one survey or data request from ALPA. Since it’s become a public topic why not vote?
