Age 67
When the retirement age was raised from 60 to 65, many pilots screamed "oh that's just too dangerous and what about safety", as they are doing now.
Many countries have already increased to a 67 pilot retirement age, including Japan in 2015, and not one incident anywhere due to the increased flying age limits. This isnt really a safety issue, its a right seat guy wanting the left guys seat issue. |

Who in their right mind wants to do this job past 65?
if you haven’t saved enough in the past 30-35 yrs, another 2 yrs won’t help you. Get a hobby, enjoy your last few years on planet earth. I vote for age 60 rule to come back. I asked why and he said his year of retirement (age 65-66) was boring and he wanted to fly again. so…..yeah. I didn’t get it either. Like, at least try and find a flying job that isn’t going to be 14 hour days every day. |
Aside from some bargaining strength, does it really matter? Just retire when you want.

I’m just happy Hoot Gibson had to leave at 60……

We’ve had multiple pilots die on layovers at my airline soo there is at least some imperial evidence that it probably shouldn’t have been raised from 60 anyways. Water under the bridge but the BS stops here at 65 in my book. |

Let’s not get into the average Japanese pilot's diet compared to an average US pilot's diet.

Does your "imperial" evidence show those were all 60-65 year olds? (and I am against raising it btw)

BACK THE PAC.... career insurance
ALPA’s policy on Age 65:“Oppose any increase in the pilot retirement age in the U.S. beyond the current U.S. retirement age of 65.”
At ALPA’s 130th meeting of its Executive Board held today, ALPA reiterated its opposition to any retirement age beyond 65 by adopting formal policy against any increase in pilot retirement age. The best way for us to maintain a seat at the table for these career-impacting discussions and strengthen our relationship with lawmakers is through ALPA-PAC.
