Another thing that might mitigate furloughs is the company has to plan for X amount of crews to be 14 day quarantined or sick or unavailable.

also another thing to keep in mind is the first person to be diagnosed with Corona Virus at TK will close the building for who knows how long as all instructors quarantine. WB pilots will lapse on landings and go no Qual as will Pilots due for CQ.

The realness of this is going to be orders of magnitude beyond anything we've seen in this industry. If you're using 9/11 or 2008 as a template you are deluding yourself. Everyone should have some sort of contingency plan in the works. We literally will not recognize the aviation industry on the other side of this. All existing bets and assumptions are invalid.

What will the aviation industry look like on the other side?

It will Take time, but people are going to need to travel, go on vacation, visit grandma, go to meetings, interviews, commerce will continue. The aviation industry will rebound. Maybe even some kind of Consolidation will take place. Maybe the pilot shortage will be solved.

He said that all assumptions are invalid.... I am going to suggest that he’s including his own assumptions as well.
