The SRL offered now makes reserve a choice. Not a profitable choice, but a choice.

I was merely pointing out that a large number of people took those SRL because they wanted nothing to do with being on reserve. Lots of people are asking if its better to be a lineholder or a reserve. Many people might roll the dice thinking reserve will be a month of never hearing from schedulers. Judging by the amount of open time alerts that have come across my phone in the past 3 days...I think reserve is not going to be a quiet time.

I’m not saying that reserve rules shouldn’t be improved, but when negotiating a contract how much negotiating capital should be spent on reserve rules? In times of good and bad, the majority of the group is not on reserve at any given time.

Edit: I meant this more as a question than a stir the pot statement. What should be done, and is there a limit as to what should be done to accomplish those goals?

The fact that many are willing to take an SRL to get away from being on reserve, speaks volumes about our current reserve rules!!! At Delta, there is a concept of being too junior to get reserve.
