So the company thinks they played a strong hand with this bid by trapping many people with only one option, down to NBFO.

Just curious what a PI’s obligations are to their position? Can they return to the line with short notice? Imagine if a quarter of the NB PI’s just decided to return to the line in July or August. I bet that would throw a wrench into their brilliant plan.

From the contract..........23-Q-3 The I/E shall return to his current Category when voluntarily returning to the line. An I/E leaving I/E status voluntarily is expected to give at least forty-five (45) days' advance notice to the Senior Manager - Fleet Training.

more than a quarter of the IEs will be furloughed in OCT if they go as draconian in the furlough as some think. The 737 will be decimated. They are losing evaluators and LCAs with these displacements plus most of the IEs are relatively new hires.

take a look at the IE list in CCS (TI) and see their system seniority....it’s eye opening

This has been a complete overreaction on the part of government. Hysteria has driven politicians to make stupid decisions that have completely wrecked the economy. The virus is pretty much looked at as a non-threat at all to non aged people.... but now Democratic politicians have figured out they can use lock downs and quarantines to their advantage to wreck the economy. This achieves a couple of big goals for them...it hurts Trump because the strong economy has been a huge feather in his cap AND it has made it possible for large Democratically controlled urban areas to cry poor to the Federal government and seek financial assistance. Bankrupt basket cases like Detroit and Chicago can now leverage the Federal government for bailouts .... take the money and waste it again. It’s pretty late in the game to fix things for us but the sooner stupid lock downs are eliminated the better. Pretty grim outlook for airline workers.
this is the most accurate post I’ve seen on the subject.

Eye opening is an understatement! It’s going to be months before any of us can wrap our heads around this.

Refresh my memory, you’re a PI currently? If so what’s the vibe among current PI’s as far as sticking it out over the summer to train ones replacement? I’m just curious how all the junior PI’s that are likely going to be on the street feel about the challenges they will be facing in the next few months. I truly feel for them in this situation as I can’t imagine what the mental toll would be like. Knowing that each student you’d be training is there against their will and is also likely under a lot emotional stress.

They use the junior IE to do the mass retrains over the summer then dump them on the street in October. After that how many do they really need?

That is the reason it's only 30% thus far...we will be running at less than 70% in the fall (anyones guess at this point) with the training department running at full throttle to get people in place for summer 2021. The furloughs for the other company employees will be far greater than 30% come 1 October on current trajectory...

I’m sure he meant “roll aside” or something like that.....is that what you’re getting at?
