What you're saying is "it would be a little better if it was a Delta guy going to work there, since there isn't a direct relationship". You know... terrible for a UAL pilot to go there since it was the same company... but hey, if you're from another airline that didn't employ him... well, not ideal, but not nearly as bad. Do I have that right?
Or maybe, since my neighbor flew for Clay Lacy Aviation before he became a 121 pilot, that's "OK"... but of course not now if he wanted to return. You know... he should know better now.
Or kind of like someone in their early 20's who is really inexperienced, is a low-time pilot, and is asked to be a Fleet Qual $50K pilot for a company called United, whose pilots are on strike... and they say "Sure, I'll take the job! What an opportunity!" They're not 121 pilots yet, so it's a lesser offense, right? That will certainly make Huell go "hummmm". I'm sure none of them are on any sort of Scab List.
This concept you have of "varying degrees" is a problem within the professional pilot ranks. I am not allowed to work for a company run by a scab... but YOU can fly with a scab captain anytime you want. That's ok, right? As long as it doesn't impact your paycheck, you can live with it. Is that correct?
Many of us are in uncertain times now. It's terribly unfortunate you're in the crosshairs of being furloughed. I wish you the best. However, if you can find a job to feed your family, and you take that job... and you find out 2 months into the job that the owner is a scab from earlier in their life, will you quit? What if the picket line they crossed wasn't an airline picket line?
And yes, I fly for UAL. They probably do call it VP of Flight Ops. I'm not sure.

Here is another stunt that Clay Lacy pulled that hasn't been mentioned in this thread. After the strike, when he was approaching age 60 retirement, he "found" a family bible that "proved" that he was a year younger than was shown on his pilot certificate or job application. Since he was a good SCAB, the company went to bat for him with the Feds and he got to fly for another year as 747 cAPTAIN.
Interestingly, after the strike, one of our SCAB DC-10 F/Os was promoted to LAX chief pilot. When I went out, He was an F/O, when I came back after the strike, he was the chief pilot. After he retired, he went to work for Lacy.

I haven't seen that photo for years. Always thought it was a F*ck You to ALPA to have it hanging in our training house. For my part, every time I walked by that photo I would place a post it note with scab written on it over his ****ty face. For some reason those notes disappeared fairly quickly.
