So you're saying this isn't in the original UPA?
And instead of waiting for a completely new contract, we were able to craft out an LOA that us and the company were able to negotiate a win-win on?

Good info, Lee. Thanks. I was under the impression that LOA's were something added to an existing contract.
Although ratified to the current contract, I figured the LOA mentioned might have been an addendum to a previous L-UAL contract, but it guess I have that wrong. Thank you for the clarification.

According to the LOA, a certain number of initial offers of employment to furloughed UAL pilots are made regardless whether the express carriers are in “hiring mode“. They have to hire a certain number per airframe.
Also, when hired on this way, you’re on 2nd year pay, UAL making up the difference.
