Default JetBlue to hub at EWR

NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- JetBlue (NASDAQ: JBLU) today announced it is adding 30 new domestic routes to serve customers in markets where leisure and VFR (visiting friends and relatives) travel is showing some signs of strength. With business travel facing a less certain recovery timeline, the new routes offer JetBlue the opportunity to generate revenue, bring aircraft back into service that would otherwise sit idle, and add more flying opportunities for JetBlue crewmembers.

Competition is good. We have 96 777s and a good number of 767-300s configured for LHR with a ton of lie flats that are just waiting to be called back into service. If this is what we needed to wake up our operation, I’ll take it.

What is the average ticket price on those lie-flat seats to LHR and other European cities?

Pre-Covid demand was apparently high enough that an entire sub-fleet of 767s was retrofitted with all new interiors and more premium seats.

Since the planes were paid for long ago, they could also work on transcons going forward.

I wonder which of our endless list of express carriers will be competing with them.

1990 if my memory serves well,
Peoples Express initiated flights to Detroit from Newark for 39 dollars
Northwest super cheap rates for 19.95 to Newark from Detroit with 747-100 ( 1200 seats)
3 times per day
the rest is known history what happened to PE
