I’ve never understood this mentality (and I’m still a decade from retirement). There’s no reason why a retired pilot shouldn’t continue to spend some time on airline pilot forums. Consider it just one of the many things he or she can do to fill time in the day. Besides, while I rarely post, I do enjoy the back and forth banter here. It’s pure entertainment, really.

It’s not the events that can be blamed on these “leaders,” it’s their response. 9/11: bungled. COVID: I squarely blame a lack of leadership on our slow recovery. Demand was rising, until we lost control of the spread because dimwit got bored with dealing with it, and left the response up to everyone else. He is most definitely at fault for where we are now, and where we will be this fall.

You have a source for that? I keep hearing that talking point but nobody can ever provide me with a source... (cause it didn't happen..)

I spend very little time here ... Having coffee now then on to the projects planned for today ... When I come in to cool off I will probably be back.
Off to the lake for the weekend ... so you will be safe for a few days.
I hope you have a blessed day.

Everything else aside, here is how the industry has looked over the course of my career:
Clinton : Huge contractual gains And movement
Bush: massive pay cuts, furloughs
Obama: Airline stability, new contracts, lots of movement.
Trump: lots of movement followed by massive furloughs and potential bankruptcies.
Dems= 1 step forward
Republican = 2step back

what I’m saying is that when Dems are in the White House my career goes well and I walk around the airport with a smile on my face. When Republicans have been in the WH I walk around my house whist fulllyvremembering the days I would walk around the airport with a smile on my face.
do I blame Bush for 9/11? No. Do I put the two recessions post 9/11 on his shoulders? Yes
do I blame trump for COVID? No. Do I blame him for his horrific response that has led our country down this path we are on where states are prohibiting travel from other states? Yep

Prior to COVID, no one was making silly statements that Trump was trashing our industry or our wages. In fact, the last four years prior to COVID have been THE BEST of my flying career. And it was the same with yours - you are being dishonest if you say that things weren't the best you'd seen pre-COVID.
MY concern with a change of parties in the White House is that the new occupants like to blame everything bad that's happening on the last occupant AND they try to get the financial pain out of the way early in their term of office. That allows them to:
1) have a better economy when they're up for reelection, and
2) blame all the bad stuff on the last guy.
This isn't anything new; it happens just about every time there's a change of party in the White House.
If there were a D POTUS right now, I'd be worried if an R took over in Jan 2021 because they run the exact same playbook.
I want no change to status quo as far as balance of power goes.
