It was in the fine print, MEC announced a while back it was allowed.

See, that's the problem. You're going by what it actually says, not what the intent was.

What’s that fine print, though? I’m reading it and not seeing it.

We are no longer under reduced work hours because we’re hiring. That was announced a couple of months ago?

I know that. I’m saying where in the LOA does it say that the triggers only apply when we are under reduced work hours. I’ve looked several times and can’t find it.

As long as the reduced hour lines aren’t in effect, why care about the LOA at this point? All that is really left are the positive permanent gains.

I'm just curious as to why it isn't cancelled. It seems like we are following some things, but not others all at a whim. It'd be nicer to know what is and is not guaranteed at this point.

The company has a lot of latitude to waive what we might consider to be the negatives in this LOA. That’s good because otherwise they’d be bound to things like reduced credit lines unless specific triggers were hit. It’s the difference between saying “you will reduce our credit until…” and “you may reduce our credit until…” Right now the company is opting not to exercise certain provisions of the LOA (which is good) even though the circumstances dictate that they still can (not as good). They won’t terminate the LOA because they know good & well all this delta variant chaos could throw another wrench in the operation & they don’t want to be in the position of needing to renegotiate the entire thing. It’s there if they need it, but for now, they’re opting not to use it.

So, you're saying... nevermind. Anyone have a reference as to why the LOA hasn't been terminated? Such as a paragraph number in the LOA?

You’re not the only one that gave a whale eye when the company put the seats back in the RJs and we continued the LOA despite what seems very clear language that this is a termination trigger.

My guess is that it was either mutually beneficial for the company and pilot group to not terminate the LOA and/or this gives the NC leverage for future negotiations.
