Junior Group Discussion and Concerns

Here’s your chance...pontificate. I know you love to. Please, tell me what this ALPA pin represents. But before you pound out a missive or sermon on the merits of a union and solidarity consider the audience that was cast to to wolves by their very own union.

Man, your reading comprehension really sucks. I was replying to someone talking about the word scab being a legal definition. His post was about scabs, the jumpseat, and the letter summarizing the legal decision. Mine was about a scab being upset about being called a scab. Not once were pins mentioned. You have a God given talent of being able to read anything you want into a post, but to answer your question, wearing a slick tie just means you don’t have a pin for whatever the reason, only crossing a line makes you a scab.

I think we’ve probably thoroughly discussed scabs and pins. Getting back on topic, one good thing has happened that not only benefits the junior group, but all of us. The latest union email points out that the November schedule was adjusted to comply with the LOA so that regional flying was reduced, and ours was increased. It may not be a huge impact, but the regionals can do even less flying while the LOA is in effect. They were flying pretty hard (relatively speaking in the COVID world) since the rolling average requirement allowed them to far exceed our block, providing that it didn’t exceed 120% with the look back. Now, their flying has to be less than ours on a month for month basis. PC has also said that after the early outs and attrition, we should be around 10,500 pilots. If demand gets back to 70% by the end of next year, further attrition should make a furlough unlikely. We’ll just let attrition shrink the company if things improve slowly, or have everyone in place if it improves quickly. Again, if demand is still in the tank and no PSP extension, then all bets are off and the vocal no voters get to play the told you so game.

I sent an email to training a couple weeks ago asking if there was any timing on when the "Do Overs" could expect training. I was told that it could be sometime before that happens. The priority is getting pilots qualified again. Which means you could be requaled in the plane you are displaced off of. I'm seeing that happening already. So if you've been home since March waiting to hear from the training dept, you will very soon.
I thought the statement, on the displacement bid that closes today, that training may start in January a little comical. Sure, maybe a handful will go to training but I doubt the majority will go anytime soon.
If anyone of us Jr Groupers gets assigned training back to their displaced aircraft or other Do Over category and is currently qualified and flying in another aircraft, please let us know. I'm very curious.

Plus, only IAH and DEN pilots are in the Max differences pipeline.

Since this thread title seems to be the repository for our concerns, here’s my question:
Have any of you started driving for Uber/Lyft?
I’m looking at starting in January. I have done as much homework as I can, but it would be nice to hear from any of you who are currently doing it.

UPS is looking for personal drivers. As much or as little as you like. You meet your truck driver at a designated location and he/she hands over whatever your vehicle can handle package wise ... you both scan the switch then you deliver those packages. You can find the job listing on the UPS web site ... what the web site doesn’t tell you is that it pays $21 an hour (in nc/sc anyway) and &.58 a mile. In the past this has been a seasonal/chrtistmas job ... however, with everyone shipping everything it started this past summer and it has no real end in sight.
May the odds be forever in your favor.
