The more efficient tax plan would tax the painting when the owner bought it and tax the new purchaser on the one million higher price paid later. Then the people who can't afford those things never have to worry about the tax. Consumption taxes with exemptions for food and medical care is very fair. If we must have an income tax, at least it could be a flat rate so everybody pays something. It is too easy under the current system to grow government and waste money because half the population pays no tax and doesn't care.

Consider this:

1) A man digs ditches 40 hours a week and earns X and pays tax on every hour of income, and if his per hour earnings increase he pays more tax?

2) A rich trust fund kid hangs a Picasso on a wall and the Picasso appreciates by $1 mil. That person pays no tax.

Society requires taxation. Does taxation of labor make more sense than taxation of wealth?
I love this from the Amazon listing for the book......
" #45,964 in Accounting (Books)"

Who would've thought there were even that many accounting books available.

The thing about the tax code is it's used as a source of power, manipulation, and way of generating campaign donations. They "congress" obviously gave up years ago on trying to balance a budget, so whatever tax they impose upon the citizenry is just rooted in some notional sense of "equality", or perks lobbied/bought by special interest in the form of campaign donations.

POS? Well, aren't you full of yourself? You had your vote, I had mine. I'm a POS because I thought we were presented with a lousy deal? It was the FIRST DRAFT! We had 60B+ in the bank and CARES was right around the corner!

For my entire career, ALPA found one way or another to give me the shaft while telling me that I'd get mine in the end. I believed them. I sucked a mile of ALPA C*7K. I was one of their MOST ardent supporters. Then Todd showed up and jammed a mile of cactus up my a$$ when I finally got to the point where I could "make up for it".

I flew as an ALPA pilot at regionals forever. I finally got hired at UAL when I was 40. I was dead last in my class. That I managed to keep my finances straight and invest in my future and then could afford to buy a GD truck and a few toys have nothing to do with how I voted. I didn't retire early because of ALPA. I retired early because I made it possible through hard effing work and discipline. And because I was so sick of flying with guys like you. Guys who constantly fawned at management's feet while selling the contract out and voting YES for every new version of trash. You've got some real stones there Mike Honcho.

I might add that over 40 odd percent of your fellow pilots agree with me. Airaware, could you point to the doll and show the class where oldmako hurt you?

Nice tie.

Sorry, couldn’t sleep. I’ll stay of the UAL forums.

eh....not saying you “can’t” come on ANY forum, or comment.....but maybe understand your level of relevance to any one discussion. If I go to the Delta forums and start chiming in on their company decisions, I would expect to be challenged on it.
