Same. But, that’s not what I was asking. Someone said that some airline doesn’t ever hire anyone who has those issues. I’m just curious to whom he’s referring. I doubt he’ll say because we all know it’s not true. That’s all. Every carrier has a few problem children.

I don’t know how any company, in any profession, could hire thousands of people and not have a percentage of problem children. We’re definitely not the exception. Most people far exceed the minimum standard. Perhaps if that standard were raised somewhat people who may not be cut out for upgrade would get weeded out early?

This has nothing to do with the Instagram hero thread though. We may find what he posts to be cringe worthy, but the guy did meet the standards and has been signed off as a 756 captain.

Agree. But, as with most threads, they tend to naturally move in directions not directly related to the title. As to my question, since United, American, Delta FDX, UPS,SWA have the pick of the litter wrt candidate selection, and they all have the same issues, I was just wondering who he was referring to. That’s all.

Well, except for the airlines that don't hire people who haven't proved that they can cut it.

This comment has the foul stench of an ACMI pilot with a huge chip on his shoulder.

3393415[/url]]This profession appears to have impacted you negatively, apparently. You sound like one of those guys that likes to complain about anything even if there is nothing.

You took what I said out of context. I never said the guy was a legend. I also never said major airline Captains are legends. I said that he/she who gets to this level and upgrades to Captain is a process considered a legendary accomplishment. And it is, without a doubt, exactly that. Unless you become a check airman, you’ve reached the highest level of airman.

Therefore, the act of finally getting to become a major airline Captain, as you retrospectively look at how much blood, sweat and tears went into getting there, is pretty legendary. That does NOT mean they are legends.

You, my friend, clearly lack emotional intelligence. I can’t believe I had to explain this to you.

Also, getting to a major and upgrading has nothing to do with luck. The only thing that I’d consider “luck” is getting this entire profession paid for by daddy.

Someday when you’re all growed up, you’ll understand the naïveté of this entire post.

I felt all grown up the first time I shot the stadium visual in a 737 at night, which was also the first time ever :D.
