JHC. Legendary?!? Becoming a captain is based on two things; Luck getting hired, and timing of that luck (seniority). There is ZERO skill involved in the promotion. Anyone that thinks they’re a CA because they are better than the rest… isn’t. One of the worst captains I ever flew with commuted across the country to hold it because his ego required that fourth stripe.

2) It isn’t “legendary”. It’s something to be proud of and is admirable, but legendary is over the top. |
First, it’s a job, not a rank.
Second, everyone hired here is capable of doing it. Some better than others. It carries a lot of responsibility. Some have no interest in it. Some cannot wait to sew on the stripe. But it inspires no more admiration as an achievement than basic aircraft qual. |
Just as the blase intellectuals must be entertained and divided amongst themselves with absurd or inconsequential concepts, so must the social media consumer be pacified with inviting controversy at his level. If this is not done these hollow heads will become vessels of opposition purely for their own entertainment.

And if you’ve ever spent anytime at the schoolhouse, you’d know the program failure rate is pretty darn low. “Can’t cut it” implies there is something magical inherent to moving a plane full of people between airports. Some are better at it than others. Somehow, we’ve operated just fine with some pretty marginal peeps in the left seat.
