I’ve done some searching and haven’t seen any recent data on this on the forums, so I figured I’d ask.
- How many days off per month does a line holder typically see as an FO? CA?
- What do widebody lines typically credit on average?
- Roughly what % relative seniority does one need to be a line holding FO or CA?
Thanks!

It is different at every base and will definitely be affected by when Asia flying comes back. Pre COVID I was SFO 777 FO seniority about 60 % and EVERY month I flew 12 days and got right at 90 hours, so 7.5 per day. Post COVID I was B787 ORD at 61% and flew about 17 days for 90 hours, because there was limited Asia flying and Europe trips are about 16 hours over 3 days with the occasional Sao Paolo 4 day trip worth 20 hours.

In July the most junior widebody (777/787) line holding FO was in DCA at about 72% system seniority (roughly 4000 pilots from the bottom of the list).
The most junior line holding CA was in EWR at about 23% system seniority (roughly 11000 pilots from the bottom).

Translating that into time - about 5 years minimum to hold a line on a widebody aircraft. Probably getting 15-16 days off per month as a jr line holder. Time to hold WB captain as a line holder is better counted in decades rather than years.
