Because there are more ATP’s every year than retirements. There is no pilot shortage, there is only a shortage of pilots willing to work for outfits paying 30k a year.

How many of those places exist anymore with what the regionals have done with their pay structures? I would honestly say that the 135 outfits and part 91 departments for the most part have become the new regionals when it comes to crappy pay and work rules, or lack thereof!

What hasn't even been brought up is this-

https://archer.com/news/archer-and-u...tional-airport

So, lets say this-
6 flights a day, times two routes (EWR-Man/Man-EWR) equals 12 flight an hour.
One pilot can probably do 3 flight in an hour so you need 4 pilots.
If you run the service 14hrs a day with a couple of low times, you still need at least 8 pilots (based on a 7 hour day)
Throw in a one on FSB (lol).. so we're at 9 pilots. For a day.
How many days can a pilot work? lets day 18.. so you need 16 pilots.
What about reserves to cover sick/vacation/training? let's say 20 pilots.

Where do they get these 20 pilots and what list are they on? What is their pay? Union?

We can't (supposedly) staff our Regional flying. Yet they are going to staff this?
I guess an organization like https://www.rtag.org/ (RTAG) is a good place to look, but definitely needs to be watched and addressed.

Always

Their goal is autonomous service...so any pilots needed to start the program won't be needed beyond some point after 2028. It is also not known what the licensing requirement will be to operate this for a carrier - eVTOL licensing and training is not known. They will be highly augmented and have their own unique handling qualities...likely very easy to fly. They aren't helicopters...and they aren't airplanes. I would expect a whole lot of 200hr eVtol pilots out there with high school diplomas that will eventually just be monitoring the systems from the ground.
