* no…I’m nowhere near 65….in case you think that
You're right that it's mostly a self centered judgement. I've always been opposed to increasing the retirement age - and i still am...until next year when i can hold a line on the 787 left seat 😬😄. I kid, I kid!

The bottom line is that it'll pass, or not, for reasons beyond our control. Write the letters and do the Call to Actions, but don't get too worked up over this. We'll all deal with it one way or another...whether we like it or not.

Get out of my seat…just like you agreed to at 60 when you got hired.

What if I got hired last year at age 62? Wanna trade seats?

No, it’s both safety and fairness. 63 seems to be the magic number where some folks really decline rapidly. A small percentage to be sure, but significant. It’s a problem that would grow exponentially if we change the age to 67.

It’s also not fair for folks who benefited from mandatory retirement age their whole career to get two bonus years at the very top of the heap, while most of us will lose those two years because I won’t be flying that long I promise you.

You'll be just like 99% of the pilots. When you hit your late 50s you'll take stock of your health, your spouses health, your finances, and the mandatory retirement age at that time -- then make an ongoing decision about how long you'll stay.
