to some I guess it is. If pay and schedule were equal, I'd rather drive to a CRJ 200 than commute to a 787, but that's just me. The irony is that I commute to the 737, so I get the best of both worlds.

Do you know what a quote is? Apparently not based on your post.

Wow. Commuting to fly that POS. That's beyond xxxxxx.
Let me guess. You've flown the guppy for most of your career.

The large mix of TPA trips (more than 40%) makes it very good for those that live near TPA (xtown pay is a nice bonus), but for others, it sucks. For open time, it's mostly TPA trips.
What is cross town pay?

Lots of time in other jets too ranging from the 727 to the 777. I don't care what I fly, it's about the balance between days off and money. Here at United the powers that be decided to go with the 737 to cover the vast majority of the NB flying. Being that as I got older I found that life on the wide bodies was creating too much fatigue, I went with the fleet that would provide the most options to build the schedule of my choice. I'd much rather be able to do that on something else, but that isn't the case at this company. I'd agree that other planes are more comfortable, modern, automated......, but if I lived in a 737 only base there is no way that I'd commute just to fly a nicer plane. That's just me though. It's nice to work for a company with options.

Man, that's crazy talk. Yes the guppy isn't a great aircraft. But if I am living in base even with co-terminal, I am not commuting to another base vs driving. The only exception are folks with good seniority holding a line as a WB CA...... Those are the folks who will commute...

We get cross town pay in bases that cover multiple airports if your trip starts at one of the satellite airports of the base.

Google maps currently shows 1 hour 34 minutes from downtown St. Petersburg to MCO. I know that's not always the case with I-4 traffic. Just curious if anyone does it and how it's been.

I have flown with a couple guys that live in the St.Pete area, and they say it's 2-3.5 hours depening on time of day.
