Default Delta truly leads the way

Looks like Delta pilots truly raised the bar. American merely matched them and didn’t do much heavy lifting.

Sadly, it looks like Kirby is not going to budge beyond Delta.

PS “Good leads the way” is the bud lite of slogans.

Kirby has zero incentive to move the bar. He isn’t in any hurry as we are staffed for the summer and beyond. We are in a marathon

Why didn’t Delta and American just stall? What incentive did they have to get deals done now?

They understand the value in operational performance. Why chase pennies and lose dollars. I firmly believe SK over hired pilots on the basis of “growth”, but knew in his back pocket he could drag pilot negotiations past the summer with little repercussions dealing with staffing issues due to upset pilots.

I also saw on FB you still got pilots handing out their United business cards to first class passengers and giving welcome aboard announcements using their full names. So it looks like the fairytale growth story while cheating you out of QOL and pay is working.

Good is the enemy of Great. Good is very fitting for us since it’s obvious that despite all of Kirby’s grand proclamations he is clearly going to half ass it all. FUPM!

I think most of us at AA knew this would be the case. We just don't have a pilot demographic that's willing to sacrifice for long term gains. There's a reason this meme popped up almost immediately after Delta's AIP was announced:

A certain number would still be doing the extras if we were taking pay cuts & had guys on furlough. The number’s never going to be zero but it’s less today than it was a month ago & it will be less in a month than it is today. To what degree our management actually cares is another matter, but seeing a FB post about “Captain GAF” doing a boarding gate greeting doesn’t necessarily make it indicative of broader trends.

As an aside, who cares about using your full name? I’ve been to numerous PPR type events. I never heard that suggested as a company preference, & I’m hard pressed to come up with a reason why it would be. I certainly didn’t know there was a “cool way” to introduce oneself, what it is, or why. (First only? Last only? Title only? No title?) Just introduce yourself as you’d like to be called & don’t read too much into why someone else does it differently. Am I wrong?

Why do you think most women at airlines with name tags only use first names on their tags? You give your full name some creep/weirdo in the back can have you pulled up on FB in a few seconds. That’s why.

FYI we have issues all the time with creep passengers PM’ing FA’s on social media after learning their names on a flight.

Even at my old regional job we knew to avoid giving out full names of fellow coworkers. It’s kind of funny United with all their DEI crap doesn’t know better.

What’s even worse is you guys have clowns passing out UA business cards to first class passengers with their personal ADDRESS and PHONE NUMBER. I saw the pictures on FB lmfao, Wow. Which day do they teach you that in look-aid class?
