At this point they don’t have a choice. Vacancy bids for green captains or a contract. Seems to be working to keep the pipeline somewhat filled…and we are all aware of the feet dragging capability of management.

Why is it the junior CAs are always bagged on for upgrading? How many WB CA slots are open each bid? Oh…none…I hope they know what they are getting in to!

well let's see, dollar signs in their eyes for 5-11 years of reserve depending on base. Also there are tons of WB captain slots open most bids, it's just in line with company seniority unlike the Jr nB positions.

And that there is the problem. They all want to complain about upgrades all while getting theirs. I will say I used to think that the new generation of pilots were the "All about me" generation, but after coming here, I can see that they are not the first generation to be like that. The amount of senior pilots that would bend you over the barrel to get themselves ahead is astounding. I get it... They had a hard go. Furloughs, bad economics etc... But what about trying to not let it happen to those behind you? They seem to lack that understanding. Oh well.... Guess Ill start picking up PP at 50% since we are all about ourselves....

I'm not sure it's people "bagging" on junior people upgrading, but more of don't complain about being on reserve and abused for doing it. Depending on what happens with this contract, the amount of time junior people spend on reserve could be extended by a lot.

Each pilot will vote for any contract based on how it benefits THEIR situation.
UAL management knows this and will do whatever they can to get a TA to what they think can pass 50+1%.
And with the RLA, time is NEVER on the side of labor.

Ok, TEN plus years later and you’re still talking about this…so let’s talk about it.
LUAL UNEMPLOYED pilots were given a WINDFALL with the SLI. Never had furloughed pilots been placed ahead of active, never furloughed pilots until the CAL/UAL merger. Many LCAL pilots had HUNDREDS of UNEMPLOYED pilots placed above them over night. People who were UNEMPLOYED became line holding pilots overnight at the expense of never furloughed LCAL pilots. LUAL UNEMPLOYED pilots had ALL of their longevity counted while the bottom 1/3 of the CAL list did NOT.
LUAL ALPA actually did a FANTASTIC job. Brucia rightly went into hiding after the award because he should be ashamed of himself.
To say that a pilot who was unemployed had any right to be placed above a pilot that was currently employed was and is the height of arrogance.
