I urge everyone to read and consider Council 33 FO Rep Mario Martins’ position on this TA before voting. The link is below. You can also log into www.alpa.org, go to the Council 33 link and click on “ Vice Chair TA Perspective : A Product of Expediency”.

Whats the point of dropping this rant to membership ahead of the MEC vote? What’s the motive? It’s just contrarian grandstanding.

Then read the contract comparison guide.

That’s probably a better “view from FL 350” perspective. Mario was at a minimum over selling half truths on things like the vacation section (when do we hit 5 weeks vs other airlines for example? It’s much better), and I wonder if he would suggest rewording to match DL on some of our clearly better sections like scope, to get to what he perceives as industry leading.
This is a good contract in my eyes. But I’m one pilot. I look forward to voting and seeing how it plays out.

In a nutshell, Mario is upset because he didn’t get his pony.

The fate of this TA should be decided by the membership as a whole (us), and not be swayed by one LEC rep who is extreme on his opinions, appeared to be a no voter from the start and has historically not seemed to represent the opinions of most of the people he represents.
The loud minority always makes everyone believe they are also the majority, when in most cases it's the furthest from the truth.
E-mail your reps if you are a YES and with your reasoning with the same fervor as those E-mailing with a NO reason. Usually, people tend to be loud when they have something negative to say while everyone else just keeps quiet and has this misplaced confidence that everything is gonna be fine.
If the MEC does not vote to ratify this TA - it's on the membership, each and every one of us. Contact your reps.

The den captain rep was already hemming and hawing while we were still negotiating. Next we will be surprised when AW from IAD votes no so she can politic on voting no. These people are playing politician with your livelihood. They never intended to vote yes. I see at least 4 hard no votes on the mec before the TA was even released so they can look "tough."
