A friend of mine recently interviewed at United and told me he met a few guys with only 100 hours of turbine being interviewed as well. They had just finished IOE at Skywest and Envoy.
Im just curious if anyone has seen this lately as the norm now. I went to a pilot hiring event last year and they said I needed 1000 turbine to be considered. Well I’m a Captain at a ACMI and still no call. Not sure what to do now.

For mainline United the lowest I know of is 500 turbine time coming from AA wholly owned RJs.
UAL does hire ACMI CAs. Re-submit your application with the new system with you haven’t after having a professional prep company review it and your resume and update monthly and add some LORs to it. I know a person who’ve had 4 checkride failures that UAL hired but a person with 6 that UAL told they weren’t what they were looking for at a job fair.

Just wait a few months and they’ll require neither.
Southwest is still holding the 500 turbine min requirement. About 6 months ago their pilot application website got hacked and exposed they had only 3,000 applications on file. Probably half those applicants have been hired at the big 3 already.

So having never done 121 work before, how hard will the training be compared say to a regional? Or is it about the same? Regionals are accustomed to taking wet ATPs. The legacies are not. Has their training department adapted to this new reality, or does it matter?

regional training was way worse, IMO. Harder, too, since they focus on lots of inane stuff vs the important stuff. Almost a hazing, in a way.

In initial training you’re expected to perform, training is fair but it’s a course for experienced pilots. Instructors assist as able but it’s not anything close to coddling. New hires who are unable to perform are routinely dismissed.

Would it be advised to go to a regional first to get 121 time and then get picked up by a major?
