As the regionals have shrunk, a lot of that flying moves to mainline. Someone's got to fly those routes and it's our NB fleet that's doing that flying. The former regional flying has been divvied up between fifi and the guppy.

how often does the NB fleet see 3-day trips with a total of two legs that starts at 5pm and ends at 1pm? That also includes a paid nap during the flight?

not directed at you, but this is why I’m not upgrading anytime soon.

ok fair, but that's the usual cockpit convo complaints. Four of us coming back from dinner during the layover last trip and it sounded like a walking fb post. 😆

Default to bid on this vacancy bid or not

I'm NB FO and getting ready to head out on MIL Leave for a couple years. Don't know if I should make my bid to CA on this vacancy bid before or after mil leave. I won't be able to complete training before, but don't want to miss the opportunity either. Any advise is greatly appreciated.

More than welcome to send PM if more appropriate.

what, exactly, is your perceived downside to bidding CA before going on mil leave for several years?

when you come back from mil leave, they will send you a list of every BES you could have held from any vacancy that happened while you were on leave. You can then pick which ever one you want. You are not going to miss out..

If at all possible, bid to something higher paying that you can complete before leaving in mil leave for PRAP calculations.

you don’t have to select it ahead of time. If you bid it when you come back from mil leave, the PRAP calc will be based on the higher pay rate from the eff date of the vacancy on which you could have first held it.

Sort of. If he/she doesn’t bid this one, they will lose whatever money is between the two activation dates in the next bid. Probably only a few grand, but still a few grand.

Can someone explain in plain language the situation for a new hire bidding CA? How long before they actually start making CA pay rate and how long before they attend CA training?
