You shouldn't be panicking yet, but this is certainly one step closer to furloughs if Boeing issues continue and demand starts to slide. We're not there yet, but don't kid yourself. By offering some of these lines, United will see how many pilots are willing to step away unpaid for a month or two. This gives them a better idea of manpower and furlough numbers they would need.

This airline and the industry has a long history of hire till they furlough. I don’t think we will furlough but I can see an indefinite freeze on hiring in our future.

Dont get too spooled up about it. We’ve been doing this for years, even prior to Covid. May is a slow down between spring break and the kick off to the summer travel season.

This is pretty standard ops this time of year, I think you’ll be fine

Standard ops for May with more reduced line options in the summer? I've seen them offered in February...but not heading into peak season

The communication refers to Boeing delivery schedule as a catalyst for these offerings. What I don't get is hardly any of these offerings are for 737, or for 737 super base like IAH being recently bolstered. It seems mostly random wide body stuff. I get 78s are delayed too, but not to the same extent.

I think to this must be normal adjustments to market softening, small ones at that, and why not blame Boeing as it fits the narrative for so many other agendas.
