Junior guy holding EWR 787 (#4546) on yesterday's snap is a CAL 08/05 hire, that's equivalent to a UAL 03/98 hire. The Junior 787 CA currently in base is a CAL 04/05 hire (11/97 UAL) . The Junior 777 CA in Newark is a CAL 09/05 hire (UAL 04/98).

I've got a standing bid in for 787 DEN CAP. Can't sniff it yet, but I only have 26 never furloughed years in. Perhaps by year 30.... but who knows.

Gotta think when the 767's are actually gone and replaced with a ton of 787's that'll drop the plug seniority of 787 cap (EWR mostly cus the current 756 flying has to go to 787) maybe to around high 5000's? PLUS united next growth which could be pretty significant. Crazy to think NYC 787 CA could go south of 6000?

also, wonder if we'll ever take back some JFK space since we own hangars and gates over there still. Seems like we might need it. Would be sweet!

Pretty sure we don't own any gates there. We used to lease gates at Terminal 7, which was operated by British Airways. Now that they moved to Terminal 8 its a mix of random carriers. And that terminal is scheduled to be demolished/rebuilt.

and as said, what slots? We would need 30+ of them to operating anything worthwhile.

so in 3 or 4 years it'll be only 18 years to hold it.

So let me see if I follow you. We're going to replace lower paying aircraft that don't have bunks with a much higher paid aircraft with a proper crew rest facility, and you think that the seniority will go down? If anything, higher paying seats will make senior people on the fence bid into them. I've known lots of senior NB pilots who don't bid the 756 since it doesn't pay that much more. If they're going to deal with the fatigue of long haul, they're doing it in a real bunk and for a lot more money.

Agreed! Money will be the breadcrumbs to the bid!
