I only personally know of one guy who didn’t make it through probation, and I don’t think his story is likely to happen to anyone else…

BTW,
One thing I didn't see mentioned here is you can also pick up trips that fit your silo in SFO at a certain time. I can't remember what local base time it was but it sure makes it easy to not have to commute.
Cheers,
Fetch

Unless that changed in the new contract, i dont think reserves can pick up out of base. Lineholders can starting at 1pm LBT for the next day.

Maybe suck it up and just get hotels and be glad you work for a Major. On the bright side you guys are seriously on the backside of the hiring curve so you'll probably be super junior for years. Life sucks and you have to deal with it. I did, and everyone senior to you did too.

If life sucks that much as a United Captain, and judging from your stream of other posts, perhaps its some to get some help? Have you considered calling ALPA pilot peer support? You have wonderful benefits available to you. Have you heard the FAA is now allowing certain anti-depressants? I hope you get some help and have a better day. Talk to people. Take some time off if you need to. Go for a long hike, take a class, talk to peers who can help you, or professionals if needed.
If we were living in Sudan, Ukraine, Gaza.... I think I'd join you in agreeing that life might suck.

From: 18%er but I’ll enforce UPA23 to the last period.
Not trying to hjijack your question here but the common thread I've seen and had PI buddies talk to me about all have a common thread. They don't prepare. Read and study the profiles for each session and study the relevant FM/FOM/WOM sections. Read the normals (Ch 3 in our FMs). Don't just rely on gouge and the cheat sheets that the FTI's hand out. Our Instructors will go to the end of the earth for you if you are prepared and engaged. They know you don't know everything, they know you're gonna screw some stuff up. That's ok. If you've prepared you will know how to ask relevant questions to clear up all that stuff. It's all a very gentleperson program, especially if you do the preparation for each session. You'll know what you know and know what you need help on.
