Next contract we need to demand we get points and status recognition. I don’t think it would cost much and the benefit of the points is fantastic. Also make a brand, I would prefer marriot, our preferred hotel for layovers.

the points thing was explored, but it’s difficult to make work. We block hotels for a whole month, and giving points get legally weird because then it becomes an occupancy thing at the state level.

it’s more difficult than it seems.

What shall we give up to obtain these points and status?

I’d happily take a dollar or two off the pay chart. It would be worth it.

So you'd want to give up roughly $1000-$2500 actual US dollars per year (or more when you factor in the lost DC) in exchange for a smattering of hotel points? I get that it'd be nice to have, but what would you really be getting in return? A handful of free nights a year and the occasional decent breakfast? Maybe it makes sense for commuters or super junior NB guys who are always on the road, but I'm not sure I see that much value in it personally.

What you value and what I value may be different. I easily save that $1-$2k a year with points and meals using them for hotels. These points would be well over 300k a year for someone who stays 100 nights a year at a marriot. That’s about five nights at the ritz per year.

add in the money saved in meals and it only gets better. Benefits from status such as 4pm check outs is even nicer. Just because you don’t agree with someone doesn’t mean you should start in with the insults. Maybe make an attempt at a reasonable reply or just move along.

This is the faceless internet, friend—only keyboard warriors leading with personal insults to project personal insecurity.

Well that does make perfect sense for a personal reason - being a commuter. I can't remember the last time I stayed in a hotel not provided by the company. And, knock wood, I'll retire that way. As a non-commuter, I'd rather not fund your personal convenience. And that's what that would amount to, in my opinion. We're both able to do our jobs comfortably without the points/credits, but you would be taking $ from my family to make your work experience better.

Some say commuting is a choice. I don't necessarily believe that at all times. What I do believe is that commuting is a benefit that comes with some sacrifices - spouses career, family, lower costs of living, etc. Don't ask me to sacrifice for your benefit.
