And, knock wood, I'll retire that way. As a non-commuter, I'd rather not fund your personal convenience. And that's what that would amount to, in my opinion. We're both able to do our jobs comfortably without the points/credits, but you would be taking $ from my family to make your work experience better.

Some say commuting is a choice. I don't necessarily believe that at all times. What I do believe is that commuting is a benefit that comes with some sacrifices - spouses career, family, lower costs of living, etc. Don't ask me to sacrifice for your benefit.
I’m actually moving to base, will be a 20 minutes from the airport. However, I’d be happy to use those points accrued for vacations. Can hold on to them and get some epic places around the world that would cost tens of thousands of dollars.

Keep in mind that our contracts are for 17k plus people. Parts will benefit you and parts won’t. Every part of the contract costs money from the base pay, if we didn’t have direct contributions we’d have higher pay. Not every part of the contract will benefit each individual.

Then you switch to international and it’s not worth anything. Would never give up hard cash personally for any fringe benefit

I like getting health insurance, vision insurance, dental insurance, reimbursement for my medical and EKG, paid dry cleaning, travel benefits, and the plethora of other stuff we get in addition to pay. And I like that we stay in nice hotels instead of the airport LaQuinta and that we dead head in first class, I’m happy to give up some hard cash for those fringe benefits.

I also enjoyed the pre-dinner snacks and drinks and breakfast at the hotel in Switzerland this weekend, thanks to hotel status. And 2 pretty nice breakfasts in Ireland last month for the same reason. I’ll take a mix of cash and benefits like we have now over just a paycheck.

guys. I already said why we aren’t getting points. You’re arguing over nothing.
which I guess is pretty typical for this place.

This same argument could be made for reserve rule improvements. The main difference being the number of commuters >> those on reserve and it would benefit everyone equally.

I got it. As another poster stated - drycleaning, medicals, crew meals, etc (we can keep going ad naseum)- it all translates to this argument. And you're both right. I'm just stating that for the topic at hand, me personally, there's no way it's something I'd want my NC making concessions for. Thankfully, as another person with knowledge of the intricacies involved stated, the mechanics of it will probably prevent it from ever happening.

it’s more difficult than it seems.
so they say....................yet some hotels for example Hilton Austin Downtown seem to accomplish this with relative ease. It seems where there's a will there's a way. Most places don't have a will.........I will agree with others though.......I am not willing to give up pay for this.

There is another component that might be relevant. Taxes. An extra dollar in pay rates that costs the company $1, might only net a 65 cent benefit(or less) to the pilot due to taxes. Whereas a soft money gain, like hotel points, might not have the degradation of taxes to water down the benefit.

Until the .IRS tries to collect more revenue and puts an "imputed value" on that soft money gain.
