Default Let’s Talk Pay Raises

The longshoreman recently ended their strike and scored massive pay increases the next several years. While pilots did OK this past contract cycle, I’m not the only one wondering when we will be heading back to the negotiating table.

What kind of improvements in pay rates, soft pay, and QOL should we be aiming for, as legacy pilots?

Inflation is still out of control and it’s affecting groceries and housing the most, which people cannot escape from. I’m a frugal guy, but I find it a little harder each month to pay for what I have in years past.

Let’s hope we get some big raises and improvements before it’s long overdue.

What happened to your furlough world is ending act?

I think you should become a pilot at UAL first.

If your parents are continuing to increase the rent on your basement room, it’s likely that they’re trying to tell you something…

Our new contract that throws money at us is barely a year old and you’re already asking for more?

But for real I want a Tumi bag on the next contract.

there is an actual, defined answer to this. Not sure why anyone would wonder when it is. It’s spelled out. (The answer is: contract openers begin Jan 2027)

I get that, but we are going to require some high level improvements over the next ~2.5 years in order for us to keep up. Have you looked at some of the food prices at the hotels recently? How about your grocery store?

If we keep raising the bar on QOL and compensation, then we’ll continue to attract the best people we can to become pilots. This will help everyone. Just food for thought.

Furloughs are, and will always be, something that can bite us at any time. Doesn’t take much in this crazy world to wreck the travel industry. Israel conflict, for example, is getting worse and a ticking time bomb.

Comment says more about you than it does the OP. Not appropriate, man.
