AA is the last US airline to have first class. I think you are confusing first and business classes. For instance the AA 321T has 10 FC, 20 business classes, 32 more room coach and 32 regular coach. 102 seats total no one else does that and no one wants to pay for it. Far roomier than 240 seats on Fromtier.

Pretty sure theres multiple things being conflated here;

The guy I quoted tried to make some correlation/causation argument. More seats getting jammed into AA planes while government programs being cut.

My point was, at least what I thought, was that AA announced years ago they were going to a super basic economy fare with the seats to match it. IOW, smallER seats that will on the pricing point will compete with the ULCC's.

Well, true. But our coach economy slimline (especially the 73) is barely more roomie/comfy.

Everyone (UAL/DL/AA) all compete with the ULCCs by offering some form of a basic economy fare.

LOL. You’re a few decades late on that estimate.

Yep, and AS MENTIONED, it was announced YEARS ago they’d be doing it.

When the ULCC’s starting expanding and encroaching into market share.

Good job following the thread.

I experienced this with People Express when AA matched our low fares (on some seats) and helped bury us. We ended up with Frank Lorenzo. Millennials, ask your airline parents.
