so in your poll I should vote twice.
also, while we are at it….If I don’t use LTD in my career should I get all my money I invested in the GROUP program back? What if I die without using it? Should my beneficiaries get the money back?

Which would be fine. I think most people would rather have the money taxed than vanish altogether.

RHA will not change without wholesale changes to the plan itself and the cost would skyrocket.
If you don’t want money to go into it……there is a way for that not to happen.
There is no free ride with triple tax free money no matter what the Zers feel - lol.

Not only can you minimize spill into it, you can use it to pay your Med/Dental/Vision insurance to take your active RHA down to $0 each year. So if you’re afraid of dying before using it all, the system is designed to allow us to have close to $0 balance with some planning. ALPA puts out calculators every year on the R&I sight about how to Min/Max RHA funding.

I spill as much as possible in it personally……. What the top end will be before I minimize the spillover from 401K I have a ballpark number. When it gets there the spigot gets turned off.

Why would the cost skyrocket? That’s a serious question. We are basically in a mutual fund inside of a tax advantaged vehicle similar to an IRA, 401k, HSA, etc. The administration of the plan isn’t free, but it’s not complex either.
