7.4% less hardly qualifies as "way less"

yearly reminder not to listen to pilots who think they are accountants!

Korean Air, AirFrance, KLM are JV….that’s definitely a new one…….although if referring to Garuda Indonesia I may be inclined to agree.

No- No not WB caps.I was referring to the FA’s that do not work , drop their entire schedule every month and still get company paid full benefits.

A LOT of Flight Attendants walked the picket line with us during our contract effort. They also went on strike with us in ‘85. They deserve more than to be viewed as a profit sharing impediment.

Coming back from the thread drift...

Unless I misunderstood, Scott just commented in the Q&A on the earnings call that he hopes to push AAL from a supposed $500 million ORD loss in 2025 to a BILLION DOLLAR LOSS yes, $1000 million in ORD alone for the coming year.

Gate wars seem to be on... get ready for the ORD delays!

and if you are thinking about a signing bonus United took that 1 time charge at the end of 2024.
It’s extremely plausible that it will add $1B a year in costs for FA alone. That doesn’t include technicians and whatever contract they ultimately secure.

UA Q2 25’ earnings call: “We do have to pay a bill on the labor front. I’ve been saying for some time the bill will be 2-3 points when all those labor agreements ratify. We will have some added expanse relative to that in 2026”. The same CFO clarified that “labor front” is FA’s.

2-3 points mean 2-3 points higher CASM. Cost/ASMx1000.

The math: 340B ASM a year equates to about $700M-$1B a year if the value of the contract is valued at $25,000-$30,000 per person. UA has been getting away with this labor advantage for 5 years. The pilot contracts added much more than that.

And Scott closed the Q&A with someone asking (paraphrased):

Q: Is it safe to assume UAL will be adding flights in Chicago? ...

Scott: "Yes" (long pause)

Q: Can you give more about the color of those additions? ...

Scott: "Theirs will be in the red, and ours will be in the black"

There is always more to a story. The other day someone told me that the only FAs that walked with us during our negotiations were the ones married to or dating a pilot . They had a vested interest . The rest if them could care less and were not interested as they felt we were already overpaid. Ive had them come up during a restroom break while we are at cruise with a light workload and say “ you guys get paid a lot to sit here and do nothing “. I didn’t even respond.

Well then, it must be true. But it’s not. I was there for many events. Being a unionist only when it benefits you is not really being a unionist. Some FAs say stupid things…just like some of us.
