You won't have to commute anymore, you can be at home while on reserve, you have family in Texas, and you'll fit right in wearing that hat in the summertime.

Points of reference: 1. You have always known how senior South Florida cities are as well as the fact that the whole world is trying to get there during the tourist months,

2. You knew how crappy PBS is before you knew you would be on reserve.

Comment: Do something that betters your life rather than whine about how miserable you are.

Peace, out.
Yeah alot of guys did just that in The Northeast since EWR was the junior base. Then Freddo the empty suit took a hatchet to the base in order to 'make it easier for commuters'. End result a whole lot of guys displaced out of captain seats with a home they can't sell above water. Proof positive you should never never move for the benefit of CAL or United Airlines...

Just did the survey. I emphasized date of hire as priority one with no management/supervisor exceptions. Also, it is disconcerting to see that at CAL, unaccompanied spouses and kids do NOT travel on your seniority. I "strongly agreed" that an unaccompanied spouse and eligible kids should be boarded on the employees seniority AHEAD of more junior active employees.

The only section of that survey that was worth anything was the open forum at the end. I basically told them their survey was bull****. I was more tactful than that but I get the feeling the pass "benefits" have already been decided upon by Lord Jeffy and his boot licking minions.

any word on UAL's future policy of upgrading platinum elites on international segments. There was talk about plat elites receiving 6 business/first class international upgrades a year that could be transferable to anyone they wanted. This policy could completely screw your chances of getting first on a vacation pass.

edit: I found what i was looking for. "Starting in 2010, members who earn at least 100,000 Elite Qualification Miles (EQMs) or 120 Elite Qualification Points (EQPs) will earn four one-way electronic System-wide Upgrade certificates for use on Continental, Continental Micronesia or Copa Airlines flights."

These just started being redeemed. That much more of a reason to ask for a few PS0's on vacation passes.

I still Believe it accords our pilots some "respect".
The words pilots and respect are never used in the same sentence at this company.

Move to BUSH/SCAB central and be with you? Not a chance.......... I'd be MORE junior there and I hate mosquitos. I was living in Florida before PBS started, and I'll be damned if a fricking bidding system dictates where I want to live. I didn't realize retired personnel would be getting a ride before active employees, did you? So, to put it more bluntly, how about minding your own business? That would make my life a lot better. Happy now?

That would be fine, because it would be inline with just about every (of the remaining) legacies out there.

But remember, those airline's express/connection carriers give priority to their own employees on their own aircraft before the mainline employee. And there's a crap load of both CAL and express commuters from places that ONLY an express carrier serves.

I've got two months salary saved for the sole purpose of putting that problem to rest.

I think someone forgot that they work for an airline that has closed at least 4 domiciles in the past 2 decades and gave virtually no assistance to the displaced. Move to Houston? Not without a simultaneous move to management and a huge pay raise.

"Any pilot that built a $200,000 house in Greensboro, built a monument to his own ego." Bob Ferguson Continental Airlines 1992?

Welcome to the new United.
