As will a ton of very senior CAL West Coasters bidding for wide-bodies. Careful what you wish for.

You are one of the who obviously thinks the sun rises and sets with wide body long haul, all nighter legs both ways flying.

You do realize they have an AIP for a no flush bid, right?

You do realize that no LUAL pilots will get to bid or bump into the 737 until the JCBA and SLI is behind us. You assume that the language in the contract regarding the subject will be the same as it is for you guys now. Are your bumping rights different than the UAL contract has? Keep in mind that when they move flying around more in the post JCBA days there will be many surpluses and bumps. This will be even more appearant when the day comes and the 400s get parked for good( probably within 5 years).

Ditto at CAL in 2007/2008 with upgrades..

Hey CAL guys, Didn't a practice bid come and go this last week. Correct me if I'm wrong but could you not tell how many unfilled vacancies(ish) there were? And wouldn't that be the projected furlough/street hiring numbers?

243 vancancies, offer to UA furlough then hire off the street, if needed..to fill vacancies. Bid closes 14 Mar

Yeah but look at when this was...2000. So much has change since then. It's like saying it took 1.5 years to make CA in 1978. Not sure why you even bring this up since it was pre 9/11 and industry deconstruction.

However if you ask some 243 vacancies does not mean 243 new hires. Yet to find anyone who can explain this logic but quite a few saying this bid will result in only 40-100 actual new hires and the rest is just moving people around

Mystery to me on that calculation...any theories on how Many actual new hires?

Either way it's interesting theyve gone darn near all the way through the UAL list to finish the last bid. Interesting times.

That's what A. Chen supposedly said. That there will be additional hiring come fall, but the Sept. slots will be filled by pilots already on property...?
I didn't see any "reductions" of bases in the bid?

Anyhow, might see you this Fall (ish).

True statement.
Aug 2005 hires were able to hold CA-B737/EWR in 2008. That only lasted till they furloughed the 143.

The current snap-shot (1 of 2) has the 8-Ball back to Aug 2005.....This time in GUM. Snap-shot 2 of 2 comes out tomorrow with the final publish on the 15th of this month.

Should be interesting.
